#isopodagenda update #1

Hey all, just checking in to let you know that things are going well! Recently there has been a large increase in orders. This is a good problem to have, but I have definitely had to change a lot about how I do things to keep up with demand.

I apologize for those waiting for their packages to send— with the long weekend I didn’t want to risk sending stuff out on days closer to the weekend that I sometimes do. It’s not that I think that stuff wouldn’t arrive in good condition, I just know how stressful it is waiting while your live critters are sitting in a USPS warehouse somewhere.

They will go out first thing Tuesday!

Some of my goals with the #isopodagenda originally was to:

  1. Increase awareness about aquatic isopods and educating about their benefits and role in nature

  2. Lower the cost of them by breeding and selling them myself and through competition. Everyone I sell isopods to is a potential breeder and seller (I think the more people selling them the better!)

I think both of those goals have made great progress. I’ve increased the number of isopods I provide per culture while lowering the price, and we’ve seen a lot more people selling them online and locally at swaps.

My next goal is to help increase information about specific species, identification, and bring more species to the market that are tank-raised and identified with the correct taxonomic names. I’m going to list a new species sometime soon if everything goes well. I had a bit of a setback where I lost some of the colony I’ve been working on the last few months. But I want to get a few cultures out there so people can start working with them. So to my hardcore isopod people, please be ready!

Alright, just stopping by to yap real quick. See you all soon & have a good holiday!
